Is Your Emergency Preparedness Plan Up to Date for the Winter?

Are you ready for the winter weather? Here are some suggestions to prepare:

1. Know where your eFINDS wristbands and scanner are, ensure staff are educated on the system, double check that the appropriate staff are assigned in HCS to eFINDS roles.
2. Is your emergency food/water supply up to date?
3. Do you have a way to ensure medications are delivered in a snowstorm?
4. Check your generator! Have it serviced, if needed.
5. Know which outlets are hooked up to your generator.
a. Do staff know who has oxygen concentrators and which outlets they should be plugged into if the power goes out?
b. Which lights are hooked up to generators? Do you need flashlights?
c. Are there areas in your building where heat won’t work if the power goes out?
6. Do you have WiFi hotspots in case your internet goes out?
7. Do you have a plan to communicate with families, residents & staff in emergences?
8. Do your staff have a letter, name badge, or some way of showing they are an essential worker and need to report to work even in a state of emergency?

It’s always good to be prepared!
