Weekly Q&A
Q: What COVID DALs are still relevant?
A: The Health Advisories from December 20, 2023 and March 7, 2024.

Q: Do you know of any facilities that use a tool that accesses a resident’s ability to leave the facility unescorted? For example, if a resident wants to go sit outside, do they need a chaperone?
A: Residents in assisted living should be able to come and go, as they please, or they are not appropriate for that level of care. You can educate the residents and require them to sign in/out even if they are just going outside on your property. Putting reminder signs up may also be helpful. If you have hesitations about certain residents and safety, I encourage you to discuss with your interdisciplinary team and the resident’s physician to ensure they are appropriate for your level of care.
