New – DAL for Vaccines
The Department of Health published the attached DAL on September 18, 2024 regarding vaccines for COVID-19, RSV, and the flu.
The new COVID-19 vaccine for the 2024-2025 season is now available in New York State. All eligible New Yorkers — especially those who are 65 and older, who are at risk for severe COVID-19 or have never received a COVID-19 vaccine — are encouraged to get the vaccine ahead of the respiratory illness season.
The flu, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and COVID-19 are contagious, respiratory viral infections that can have similar symptoms, making it difficult to distinguish between the three illnesses. The Department encourages long-term care facilities to provide flu and RSV vaccines to residents in addition to the 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine. These are three separate vaccinations. As confirmed by CDC guidance, it is safe to get all three vaccines at the same time.
Please read the DAL for further detail.
