Recent Swat/Ghost Calls in Nursing Homes

NYSHFA recently was made aware that a facility received several calls threatening to burn down their Nursing Home. The calls were received from out of the area. The police were called and traced the number to out of the state. They believe it was a prank or “swat/ghost” call. As a result, the facility went into locked down for about an hour while the police investigated. If this does occur at your facility please follow your facility EP polices, including notification of the police and your regional DOH office. Remember to complete an after-action report with your facility staff documenting what they learned and how they did during the incident.
