DOH: Person-Centered Learning Opportunity for ADHC Providers

In addition to offering two-hour virtual training sessions (learn more here), the New York State Department of Health offers virtual Learning Institutes to Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) stakeholders as part of the Person-Centered Planning Statewide Training Initiative. Interested Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) providers are encouraged to participate in an upcoming Learning Institute. Keep reading to learn more.

What is a Learning Institute?

A Learning Institute is a six-week learning experience that engages each participant at a personal level as they learn how to support individuals receiving HCBS to have a full and meaningful life in their community of choice. The experience includes virtual group sessions, online coaching, and access to an online community of peers.

The virtual group sessions are led by faculty members that are national and international leaders and innovators in the field of person-centered planning. There are six group Zoom sessions of two hours each. Participants will also be asked to join “coaching circles”—small groups of participants that will learn from each other’s experiences. The total weekly commitment is approximately three hours a week for six weeks.

Learning Institute participants can expect to develop an understanding of true person-centered practice and their role in transforming services and supports.

The Learning Institute is relevant to ADHC management and staff that have attended person-centered training previously and/or have a strong interest in learning how to develop their own capacity for person-centered work. See below for information on registering for an upcoming Learning Institute:
