Sarah Paparella Chosen as a Future Long Term and Post-Acute Care Leader for National Organization

We are pleased to announce that Sarah Paparella, Administrator of Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, has been chosen by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a national, future leader in long term and post-acute care. Sarah will join AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program, a year-long program that offers training and guidance for industry professionals.

“I am thrilled to welcome Sarah to our newest class of Future Leaders,” said Mark Parkinson, president and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “In the midst of a historic labor crisis in long term care, we need to continue to develop leaders in the profession that will help us build back our workforce of health care heroes. Sarah and our other Future Leaders will help transform our profession for the better, and we are honored to help them develop their careers in this rewarding sector.”

“Sarah’s leadership and commitment to the long term care profession is well recognized and sought after,” said Stephen Hanse, Esq., NYSHFA | NYSCAL President & CEO.  “I can think of no one more deserving and appropriate for this valued national level program.”

Sarah Paparella MPH, LNHA graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 2009 with her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, continued to get her Master in Public Health (MPH) from Brooklyn College in 2013, and thereafter attended the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies to obtain a certificate in Nursing Home Administration in 2014. She became Licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) in 2015 where she started her professional journey at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Rome, NY. In 2018, she was promoted within her company to a larger Skilled Nursing Facility, Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in East Greenbush, NY where she is still currently the Administrator on Record. Sarah’s first job at 15 years old, was within a nursing home; she knew from an early age that she wanted to be a member of the long-term care industry and to make a difference in the lives of those served within skilled nursing facilities. She continued to work in many different roles within the nursing home setting throughout her time in both high school and college, including a 6 month Administrator in Training (AIT) program under the Bassett Healthcare Network.

Sarah is a member of numerous boards including the Vice President of the Slocum Dickson Foundation based in New Hartford, NY, the President of the Capital District within the New York State Health Facilities Association (NYSHFA), the Capital District Local Program Council and Board member of the Healthcare Management Association of Central New York, an independent chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and she also serves on the Development Committee for the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in Utica, NY.

AHCA/NCAL developed the Future Leaders program in 2004. Selected participants demonstrate both leadership potential and represent the interests of state and national long term care providers. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. The year-long program kicks off with the “Future Leaders of Long Term Care in America” Symposium held each year in Washington, D.C.
