Jackie Pappalardi, Executive Director of the Foundation for Quality Care, Receives 2023 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Award

Stephen Hanse, Esq., President and CEO of the New York State Health Facilities Association | New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSHFA | NYSCAL) announced today that Jackie Pappalardi, Executive Director of the Foundation for Quality Care (FQC), has been named a Veteran VIP in the annual McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program, a joint effort of McKnight’s Senior Living and sister media brands McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and McKnight’s Home Care.

The Veteran VIP category honors women who have more than 15 years of experience and have made an impact on the senior living, skilled nursing or home care fields. The McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards program was judged by a national, independent panel of judges. The honorees will be celebrated May 22 in Chicago at the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Forum.

“We are pleased to recognize the contributions of these seasoned professionals, whose knowledge and experience is valued greatly by their skilled nursing, senior living and home care employers,” McKnight’s Editorial Director, Vice President and Associate Publisher John O’Connor said.

Jackie Pappalardi has nearly 45 years of service in the public and private health care delivery system. With a clinical background as a registered nurse, Jackie has been a strong advocate for ensuring patients, residents and clients receive quality care. Jackie has worked with NYSHFA | NYSCAL for the last four years as Executive Director of the Foundation for Quality Care.  She provides leadership to NYSHFA | NYSCAL members on policy guidance, operations, and the direction for the clinical, quality, and educational programs for nursing home and assisted living providers. Jackie serves on the American Health Care Association’s Quality Committee and Emergency Preparedness Committee. She has presented at region, state and national conferences.

Prior to joining NYSHFA | NYSCAL, Jackie served as the New York State Department of Health Division (NYSDOH) Director of Nursing Homes and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities. Jackie directed, managed Regional Offices, and worked closely with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and other federal and state agencies to develop and guide implementation of statewide policies for surveillance and quality improvement.

Additionally, Jackie held the position of New York State Deputy Director for the Office of Emergency Preparedness, where she was instrumental in the design and management of the Emergency Preparedness Program for acute and long-term care providers.
