Weekly Q&A
Q: When is the next quarterly statistical report?
A: The QSIR (Quarterly Statistical Information Report) in HERDS for the 4th quarter will open January 1st and is due by January 31st.
Q: Can a Medication Assistant help a resident with insulin pens if they have arthritis? What about hand-over-hand?
A: No- staff cannot help, even with hand-over-hand. The doctor should make changes to the resident’s medications, or the resident will have to find alternative living arrangements.
Q: What does the State say about resident’s having alcohol?
A: Residents are adults and possess the right to make decisions for themselves. The facility should establish its own policy in alignment with this principle. Not all facilities allow alcohol in their facility and/or alcohol to be stored in the residents’ room. Each facility has guidance and/or a policy in place for storing and/or use of alcohol. Resident handbook/rules typically address alcohol. Resident(s) should consult with the facility on their alcohol guidance on storage and/or if alcohol is permitted at the facility.
