Weekly Q&A

Q: We’re looking to get our SNALR license…do all the rooms have to be in one location, or can they be mixed around the building if the whole building is secure?

A: SNALR beds must be located in a fixed area within a building. They cannot “float”, i.e. be designated within the building as the need arises.

Q: Do call bells in resident rooms have to be right next to their bed for ALRs?

A: Yes. Per DOH ALR regulations: “A centralized emergency call system shall be installed in all bedrooms and easily reachable from the bedside and installed in all resident-use toilet and bathing areas and easily reachable from each fixture.” Title: Section 1001.13 – Structural and Environmental Standards | New York Codes, Rules and Regulations (ny.gov)
