2021-2 MDS for Reimbursement DEADLINE REMINDER
This message serves a reminder that the deadline for MDS Census verification is MARCH 25, 2022. Please take steps to ensure you have reviewed and finalized the census roster on the Health Commerce System by March 25 and that the census certifications are timely filed.

Dear Administrator/Director of Nursing:
This is a notification that the MDS review for the January 2022 rates has a revised deadline of March 25, 2022.
Please be reminded that the Department is now using all Medicaid assessments to calculate the case mix index. There is no longer a census date. Consistent with past practice, facilities will continue to review and make necessary updates (payor source, BMI, Dementia, Authorized Specialty) to their file on the HCS.
Any issues with duplicate records should be sent to MDSBRHCR@health.ny.gov for review by bureau staff. Bureau staff will examine this issue and respond to the email with the action(s) taken.
The case mix index for the January 2022 rates will include assessments submitted timely to CMS with an ARD between April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021.
The table below provides a high level timeline for the collection process:

The facility certification is due no later than seven (7) calendar days after submission. Please ensure your updates are done prior to March 25, 2022 in order to meet the certification deadline. Additionally, please make sure to submit your certification electronically.
