Nursing Home Quality Rating Legislation

Last week, the Assembly passed a bill (A.2188, Dinowitz/S.3498, Sanders) that would require nursing homes to post their ratings for health inspections, staffing, and quality measures, in addition to provisions already established that require posting of CMS quality ratings. NYSHFA first opposed this bill when it was up for discussion in the Assembly’s Health Committee as it is redundant and unnecessary and could unintentionally create consumer confusion. We will keep you apprised of the bill’s status if/when it makes its way through the Senate.
