SSI Rate Increase Bill Introduced in NYS Senate

At the request of NYSCAL, Senator Roxanne Persaud, Chair of the Senate Social Services Committee, has introduced legislation (S.8767) to increase the SSI rate for enhanced residential care settings (Congregate Care Level 3) by 10%. An SSI rate increase is one of NYSCAL’s top legislative priorities for 2024.

This bill introduction comes on the heels of numerous conversations the NYSCAL Board has been having with the Legislature and we are thankful that Senator Persaud recognizes the overwhelming need for our adult care facilities to be reimbursed for the cost of the care and services they provide. The last time an increase occurred was in 2007.

NYSHFA|NYSCAL’s lobbying team will continue to actively advocate for inclusion of this bill in the State budget and will keep you apprised of the soon-to-be released one-house legislative budget proposals that are expected to be released late this evening.
