Weekly Q&A

Q: Can a resident who self-administers medication store their insulin in their room in the same refrigerator as food?

A: Yes, provided that it is stored in a separate container to avoid contamination. If the room or apartment is shared, and the refrigerator is accessible to more than the resident for whom the medication was prescribed, it must be stored in a locked or secured compartment.

Q: I’m an assisted living and someone told me the activities schedule has to be done a month in advance and posted a week early. Could you please confirm- does the following month have to be posted early?

A: That is correct. A month-worth of calendar activities has to be prepared and posted the week before the month occurs. For example: April 2024 calendar would need to be posted by March 25th (exactly 1 week before the month occurs).
