AHCA/NCAL: New TNA to CNA Test Prep Course is Now Available
AHCA is partnering with Academic Platforms and CNAonline to offer educational options for Temporary Nurse Aides (TNAs) to become Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs). The options for training these individuals vary depending on state guidelines.
The new TNA to CNA Test Prep Course contains approximately 30 hours of content and costs $300 per student. This new course is designed to serve two primary purposes:
- As an alternative shorter course in states that allow students to challenge their certification/licensing test or that permit accelerated training to sit for the state’s CNA test.
- As a refresher study guide for any TNAs who experience significant delays between completion of their traditional required CNA coursework and the time they sit for their exam in states experiencing testing delays.
The CNAonline hybrid training course that AHCA has partnered with Academic Platforms on for years also remains available as a training option in 23 states.
Time is of the essence for TNAs to become CNAs. Due to CMS’ decision to end the federal waiver allowing TNAs, there are three important dates worth noting:
- June 5, 2022 – The date the free TNA online course through ahcancalED will be removed from public view.
- June 6, 2022 – The date the TNA waiver ends. TNAs have four months from this date to become CNAs.
- October 6, 2022 – The last date TNAs will be allowed to work as TNAs in nursing facilities unless a facility has received a waiver extension from their state official.
