DOH Advisory: CDC Advisory on Fungal Infection Associated with Medical Procedures in Mexico

Please see the attached CDC health alert regarding fungal infections (Fusarium solani) associated with medical procedures done at a clinic in Mexico. CDC has reached out to states with known clients of this clinic, but we are sending this statewide, just in case CDC does not have a full patient roster, or if the situation is not limited to one particular clinic. This particular fungal infection can be particularly severe, resulting in meningitis. There have been 2 deaths associated with this situation so far. If you have a patient who may be impacted by this, please contact your local health department or NYSDOH at bcdc@health.ny.gov.
