New IPCO Flyer Focusing on CMS’ Requirements of Participation

ahcancalED has updated its flyer for its Infection Preventionist Specialized Training (IPCO) focusing on CMS Requirements of Participation (ROP) guidance covering training for these individuals.  IPCO remains the #1 selling product for ahcancalED, and all state affiliates automatically receive 40% of AHCA’s net revenue on IPCO sales.

A few points to keep in mind about Infection Preventionists (IPs):

  • All IPs must be specially trained in infection prevention and control.
  • They must be employed by and work in the facility (no consultants or corporate office staff can be a facility’s IP).
  • They must be an active member of the facility’s QAA team.
  • They must have a clinical background/training such as nursing.
  • F-880 (Infection Control) remains the #2 most frequent citation after NHSN reporting.  Prior to NHSN reporting requirements, F-880 was #1 for years.
  • AHCA strongly recommends that every nursing facility have a minimum of two specially trained Infection Preventionists should one leave the facility.
  • While administrators typically cannot serve in the IP role unless they have clinical credentials, administrators also are encouraged to take the IPCO training to keep tabs on the facility’s infection prevention and control efforts.
