Solar Eclipse MONDAY!
As a reminder, the Total Solar Eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8th. There are a few things to take note of:
- Sunglasses DO NOT protect eyes- glasses must be certified to International Organization for Standardization 12312-2
- Details on glasses: Suppliers of Safe Solar Viewers & Filters | Solar Eclipse Across America (aas.org)
- Details on eye safety: How to View a Solar Eclipse Safely | Solar Eclipse Across America (aas.org)
- If you are not in the direct line of the eclipse, but still in New York, you will still be able to see part of it.
- There is a detailed map available here
- Traffic is expected, especially in places where the full eclipse will be visible. Staff should plan ahead for delays.
- The Department of Health is encouraging facilities to prepare and review both staffing plans and surge supplies to ensure they are prepared.
Please see the attached Health Advisory from the Department of Health for additional information.
