What is 2-1-1?
2-1-1 works a bit like 9-1-1. Calls to 2-1-1 are routed by the local telephone company to a local or regional calling center. The 2-1-1 center’s referral specialists receive requests from callers, access databases of resources available from private and public health and human service agencies, match the callers’ needs to available resources, and link or refer them directly to an agency or organization that can help.
Dialing 2-1-1 helps direct callers to services for, among others, the elderly, the disabled, those who do not speak English, those with a personal crisis, those with limited reading skills, and those who are new to their communities.
This webinar will introduce you to 2-1-1, the 3-digit phone number that links individuals to services seven days a week, 24 hours a day!
From the webinar you will:
- Recognize the purpose of 2-1-1 and how it addresses the socioeconomic determinants of health.
- Learn how 2-1-1 is used by families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet
- Learn how 2-1-1 supports communities during and after a disaster or community incident
