Assembly Moves ALR Quality Reporting Bill (A.5790-A, Paulin)

Last week, the Assembly Health Committee voted to move A.5790-A (Paulin)/No Same As out of the Committee. This bill authorizes the Department to develop a quality rating system to score results collected from facilities and annually report on quality measures. Facilities performing in the top quartile would be granted an advanced standing classification allowing them the opportunity to extend their annual survey from 12 to 18 months based on quality performance. Reporting results will be made public. Additionally, assisted living facilities would be able to seek national accreditation status. This bill is similar to the proposal set forth by the Governor in her FY2024-25 Executive Budget. You can read NYSHFA|NYSCAL’s support memo here and the bill language here.
