Senate Advances SSI Bill (S.8767/A.9807)

On Tuesday, the Senate Social Services Committee voted unanimously to move S.8767 (Persaud) out of committee and to the Finance Committee for consideration. This is a great step forward and suggests that the Legislature understands the importance of providing funding to facilities that accept SSI residents. NYSCAL continues to educate legislators on the nuances of assisted living and the role it plays within the long-term care continuum. We are working to get the Assembly’s companion bill (A.9807, Davila) placed on an upcoming committee agenda as well before the end of the legislative session in June.
